Is that an Alarm?

There isn’t a person in our nation that would disagree with the fact that these are some very interesting times we live in. Every single aspect of our society is being affected either in a direct way or a collateral way but the economic upheaval we are experiencing. There seem to be many questions that are asked with few viable answers being offered. We hear words applied to economic season such as “depression”, “recession”, “meltdown”, “crisis”, “emergency”, “nightmare”, “collapse”. It seems that a wall of noise is being created with all this ALARMING information that we might be missing the more important alarm. Let us Gather…again?

In the last entry I talked about how events meet the need in people’s lives for being with other people. It is no fact that everyone of us can do without service clubs, congregational meetings, committees, parent teacher associations or the myriad of gatherings. And yet, each of these while not being foundationally necessary to life are often the avenues in which we find the color and beauty and value in life. We have been created to belong to community and in the absence of community we will gather at events or in goal specific groups. Read more…
